Written for my Dostoevsky class.
[…] This sanctifies and makes beautiful our struggles and glorifies our overcoming the greater obstacles. For love and reconciliation comes when we least expect it, and through forgiveness and coming to terms with ourselves and the world, we enter the doorway by which we can love and truly be loved. For all the estrangements, the mortifications, the final apotheosis of man is to be unmasked, and to have a face. For, in the words of the Venerable Lewis, how can we have existence till we have faces? All will be set aright, and we will be reunited to love fully and truly and tell each other ‘all that has been.’ It makes me think of a certain Mr. Ernest who wrote this lovely piece. May it give you as much hope and peace towards the future as it has given me: https://samuelernest.com/2013/06/04/kolya/ […]
